iMac Intel

The iMac Intel was the first iMac to implement a processor that was not designed by IBM.  It was basically the same computer as the iMac G5, having the same design and appearance.  But it did have a slightly faster Intel Core Duo processor, and an option to buy a much larger screen, at 24 in.  But it still implemented the same design, and most of the same specifications of the previous iMac G5.

          17 in.                  20 in.                       24 in.

The new Intel-based iMac would become the first iMac to have a non-IBM designed processor, although before iMacs, and other Apple computers used the Intel NVidia GeForce graphics chips.   And it would set the standard for the iMacs to come over the lines lifetime, all following having an Intel processor.  But we will not know if the next generation of iMacs after 2015 will still implement an Intel processor.

The new 24 in. model would also set the standard for iMac to come with most iMacs today being 20.5 or 24 in. with the exception of the new 5K iMac at 27 in.  But otherwise the iMac Intel would be the same computer as the iMac G5 with the same displays, and features like the iSight Camera, Bluetooth, and Infrared for the Apple Remote.
